Release Notes for Release Notes

Everything Release Notes has learned to do, one release at a time.

Release Notes numbers itself the way it numbers you. It shipped on October 7, 2026, so that day is 0.0.0. Newest first.

0.0.22 · October 29

  • Four new badges in Firsts and craft: Signed commit, Issue opened, Merged upstream and Tarball.
  • A new track, Roadmap, for the dates you add to Upcoming, climbing from alpha to LTS like the others.
  • The guide, open to anyone before signing up: How it works, Getting started, the morning email, Replying, the FAQ and Privacy, and a page for every feature, from photos to agents. Features lists them all, a line each.
  • Send Jamie feedback from You: something wrong, an idea or a question, with up to 3 screenshots. Jamie reads every item, and the answer comes by email.
  • PDFs attached to a reply, or mailed to your own address, now stay with their note, as photos and voice memos do.
  • This page.

0.0.21 · October 28

  • Under the countdown in the email, and on Today: which week and day of your life this is. A nod to Four Thousand Weeks.
  • Add a profile photo in Settings. It shows on the You tab, and your browser strips its location and other details before it’s sent.
  • An agent you’ve let add notes can now fix a note it wrote, and, with a separate OK, attach photos, voice memos and PDFs to it.
  • Smaller things: mail apps that show sender logos show the Release Notes mark. On Android, the Home Screen app fills the screen, and the calendar link explains how to add it. The foot of Settings shows the build number, counted like this page.

0.0.18 · October 25

  • Make a book: a PDF of any days you pick, 6 by 9 inches or US Letter, with your photos, a calendar of contents and an index of tags and places.
  • Weekly Thing Supporting Members get a badge for each year they give, a thank-you in their birthday email naming that year’s nonprofit, and commentary by Claude in up to 10 books a release.
  • Earned a badge since your last visit? The web welcomes you back with it.
  • Release Notes comes with the Weekly Thing. If your address doesn’t get it yet, sign-up offers to add you.

0.0.17 · October 24

  • Here saves exactly where you are, named by its neighbourhood, or by a business nearby that you pick. “Add where I am” does the same for each new note on Today, and only asks for your location when you save.
  • A photo’s own location names its note, iPhone photos included. A note with no place of its own shows the day’s city, or your home.
  • The Map: every note with a place of its own, filtered by words, tag or release. Pick a group of pins to list its notes. Place links on the web and in the email open it.
  • A new look across the app and every email, with You and Map tabs and Search in the header. Agents can say which city a note was written in.

0.0.14 · October 21

  • Activity, under You: everything that came in, changed or went out, newest first, kept as long as your account and included in your export. An agent’s reads show as one line a day.

0.0.13 · October 20

  • Badges. Tracks that climb from alpha to LTS, a shelf for this release, Firsts and craft, and Collectibles for notes on special version numbers. A few are secret.
  • The morning email names any badge you earned since the last one, and points out a special day beside the number. “Show badges” in Settings turns it all off.
  • If an email to Release Notes can’t be added, from another address say, you get an email telling you so.
  • An agent with read access can now see the rest of your account too: badges, releases, On this day and your settings.

0.0.10 · October 17

  • A private calendar link for Upcoming, so your dates show in your calendar app.
  • Search your Upcoming dates.
  • Edit every Upcoming date at once as text, one line each, previewed before anything is saved.
  • With a separate OK, an agent can keep your Upcoming dates. Add it to a connection you already have from Settings.

0.0.7 · October 14

  • Filter Upcoming by kind and by tag, and give any date a tag of its own.

0.0.6 · October 13

  • Upcoming: birthdays, anniversaries, trips and events, with reminders in the morning email, up to 3 at a time. Give a birthday its year and you’ll see what version they turn.
  • Connect an agent such as Claude or ChatGPT to read your notes. With a separate OK, it can add notes when you ask, and they show who wrote them.
  • Settings, in four parts: Daily email, Writing and search, Connected agents and Your account. And Release Notes has a logo of its own.
  • Now and then, a short note from Jamie about what’s new, under its own heading in the morning email.

0.0.5 · October 12

  • Yesterday in the morning email: everything you sent the day before, photos included, so you know it all arrived.
  • An address of your own. Mail a note or a photo to it any day, no reply needed.
  • A note can say where it was, typed in or taken from its photo, and a day’s weather follows its place.
  • Each year of your life gets a page, birthday to birthday. On your birthday the email sums up the release just closed.

0.0.2 · October 9

  • Add photos, voice memos and PDFs on the web, or record a voice memo right in the page. Open a photo over the page to see it whole.
  • Search: every tag you’ve used, and any word across your notes. Turn on “Write out what I say” and “Describe my photos”, and search finds what’s in those too.
  • On this day in the morning email: the same day in every earlier release, with its tags. A quiet line counts your notes, days and photos so far.
  • Add it to your Home Screen and it opens like an app. A reply more than 72 hours late gets a short email back, pointing you to the day’s page.

0.0.1 · October 8

  • Sign up on the web: your birthday first, then your email, your city and the time your email comes. Your first email comes at once.
  • Sign in with a link or a code, and write, edit or delete notes for today or any day back to your birthday. Reply as often as you like; it all adds up to the day’s notes.
  • Photos and voice memos in a reply stay with their note, and links show by the name of the page.
  • Each day keeps its weather, and the morning email has the forecast. Pause the emails, unsubscribe, export everything as a zip, or delete your account, any time.

0.0.0 · October 7

  • Initial release. One email a morning, with your version number as the subject and standing alone at the top, 24 dots that fill as the year goes, and your streak. Whatever you reply is kept as that day’s release notes.

A hobby by Jamie Thingelstad, free with the Weekly Thing. From Your Version Number.
