Your own address

An address of your own to mail a note to any day, no reply needed.

What it is

Besides replying to the morning email, you can mail a note to an address that is yours alone. Nothing needs to arrive first: write whenever something happens, and it goes in for that day.

You’ll find it in You, then Settings, under Write by email, any day, with a Copy button. It’s also at the foot of every morning email, as “Write any day, no reply needed”. Add it to your contacts and it’s always a few taps away.

Which day it counts for

A note mailed to your address goes in for the day it arrives, in your own time zone. A reply is different: it counts for the day of the email it answers. So to fill in an earlier day, reply to that day’s email, or write on that day’s page on the web.

Anything a reply can carry works here too: words, photos and voice memos, hashtags and links. Replying has the details. The subject line isn’t kept, so put what matters in the body.

It has to come from you

Your address takes mail only from the address your account uses, with the same checks a reply gets: the mail has to check out as genuine, and automatic replies are never notes. Mail that isn’t added shows in Activity, under You, with the reason.

Unlike a reply, it never expires. Keep it to yourself, though: anyone who has it could use it to send you mail.

A new address

If your address gets out, New address in Settings makes another one. The old one stops taking notes at once, and nothing mailed to it later is added.

While your emails are stopped, your address takes nothing. Start the emails again in Settings and it works again. A pause doesn’t stop it: you can mail notes while the emails are paused.
