Getting started

Your first week with Release Notes, from the first email to filling in a day you missed.

Add the sender to your contacts

Your email comes from notes@yourversionnumber.com. Add it to your contacts so the daily email stays out of junk. If one lands there anyway, marking it “not junk” helps the next ones.

Reply to the first email

Your first email came as you signed up. Reply to it with anything about today: what happened, what you made, who you saw. A line is plenty. Type above the quoted email; the quoted part and your signature are left out.

The next morning’s email shows your reply under Yesterday, so you know it arrived. Replying has the rest.

Put it on your Home Screen

Release Notes works in any browser, and on a phone you can add it to your Home Screen, where it opens on Today like an app of its own.

  • iPhone and iPad: open notes.yourversionnumber.com in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
  • Android: open it in Chrome, open the menu, then Add to Home screen.

On an iPhone the Home Screen app keeps its own sign-in, apart from Safari. Sign in there with the six-digit code from the email, not the link, since the link opens in Safari.

Write on the web

Signed in, Today has a box for a note, and buttons to add photos, voice memos and PDFs, or to record a voice memo right there. A note written on the web is the same as a reply: it files to its day, counts for your streak and shows up in the next morning’s email.

Fill in a day you missed

Any day from your birthday to yesterday can have notes. Open Archive, pick a day (its page has a calendar to reach any other), and write in the box there. A day you fill in later counts toward your streak, the same as one written on the day.

Make it yours

In You, then Settings:

  • Daily email: the time it comes, your city, and pausing the emails.
  • Writing and search: the address you can mail a note to any day, “Add where I am”, writing out voice memos, describing photos and showing badges.
  • Connected agents: connecting Claude or ChatGPT to your notes, if you’d like.
  • Your account: a profile photo, exporting everything, and deleting your account.

Next: the morning email, part by part.
